I'm building Open Discovery, and I'm looking for one or more cofounders who want to build toward a very ambitious goal: using AI to accelerate real scientific and engineering progress. The long-term goal is to automate digital research and experimental loops across AI, mathematics, biology, engineering, and other fields.
We're starting with a narrow, useful product: algorithm optimization. A user gives us working code, correctness tests, and / or a benchmark; the system (made of GPT or Claude) searches for improvements, measures them, and returns a verified faster version without changing the intended result - it already works as a skill - auto-optimize skill ↗
This is a strong place to begin because AI models are improving most exactly at this area: reasoning and iterative optimization against a measurable metric.
Currently, besides GitHub stars and forks, there is no paid users or revenue. I will bring early users through my YouTube channel and social-media audience (30,000+ followers). The first phase is to work closely with those users, optimize real algorithms and systems, learn where the repeated pain is, and turn that into a product people rely on.
Longer term, the goal is much bigger: automate more of the experimental loop itself — propose an idea, implement an experiment, run it, evaluate the evidence, and iterate. We want to expand from software and algorithm optimization into fully digital work in fields such as biology, mathematics, machine learning, and other areas of science and engineering - we will prioritize scientific progress for humanity.
Our target is to build real usage and a strong YC application over the next 3 to 6 months. Until we raise funding, reach meaningful revenue, or get into YC, there is no salary. Part-time involvement by you is completely fine at the beginning, as long as we are aligned on the mission, communicate reliably, and consistently build together.
As a cofounder, you will receive an equal share of the company. I am not looking for someone to execute my vision — I am looking for a partner who will bring their own ideas, challenge assumptions, and jointly decide what we build. We would be committing to building this company together for years.
I'm looking for people who genuinely want to help solve science — not only build another AI app.
